The Toronto International Film Festival
Tips we learned last year:
- Discover Card - you CAN leave home without it. We couldn't find a single place that accepted this credit card, although 2 phone calls to Discover's 800 number said that it was widely accepted. They lied!
- There's really no need to rent a car. The city is very easy to navigate on foot, and most of the festival's theaters are within walking distance of each other. Cabs are readily available in case of bad weather -
or if you just can't possibly walk anymore.
- You'll never have to go without coffee. If there isn't a coffee place on every corner, I'd be surprised!
- Although Toronto isn't as clean as I had heard before going - it was still pretty impressive for such a large city. (Locals told us the reason it wasn't as clean as usual while we were there was the tourists for
the Film Festival. Hmm - I wonder if they meant us?)
- The people in general were nice and friendly.
- There are many tour companies that can take you to Niagara Falls.
- The weather was very mild. 70's mostly during the day, and turning a little on the chilly side at night (high 50's to low 60's).
- the exchange rate for Americans is still very good. Plan to shop!
