Moulin Rouge
(Trixie’s Review)

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Although I don’t like Nicole Kidman, the previews had me dazzled with sparkling costumes and the promise of musical numbers that I could tap my toes to.

For the first half of the movie I was thoroughly entertained. Then it happened - the Like a Virgin number. It had to be one of the worst things I had ever scene in a movie! Now, I am a big fan of cheese - but this went beyond even my tastes. Which is sad, because it had pretty much ruined the rest of the movie for me. I enjoyed the tango scene, but could not bring myself to get over just how bad of a turn the movie had taken.

The story is sweet, and is about love. The music can be good. My suggestion is to go see the film, but when you hear the first few notes of Like a Virgin - head out for more refreshments or a brief potty break.
